Perry Milou, from Philadelphia, is recognized as one of the nation's leading Pop artists. Over the past 35 years, critics and collectors have celebrated his bold and vibrant palette. Known for his innovative thinking and diverse inspirations, Milou's work is often described as "alluring," "brilliant," "fresh," and "glamorous."

Perry traveled with The Pennington School to Dzaleka Refugee Camp this June. While there, he worked directly with kids from both Pennington and Dzaleka to paint a mural inside the art classroom.

Perry is also the illustrator behind Spread Your Love Volume 1, the children's book exploring emotions through his signature heart drawings. During the trip, he led a workshop where kids created their own unique heart characters — turning their emotions into the artwork that will fill the book's pages.

Susan started the partnership between The Pennington School and Dzaleka back in 2018, and every project since — the sanitary pads, the water filters, the art classroom, the book — has grown out of that first connection she built. She stays closely involved as a mentor across all of it, guiding students through the actual work of designing, coordinating, and following through on projects that reach across the world.

She's the one constant across eight years of changing projects and changing student leaders, which means she carries the institutional memory of what's worked, what hasn't, and why the partnership is built the way it is. When new students step into leadership roles each year, she's the person who helps them understand not just what to do, but why it matters and how to do it right. Her role isn't to run any single project — it's to make sure every project stays true to the relationship the whole thing was built on in the first place.
